Mitsui & Co reaches agreement to acquire 100% shares of ISI Sementi S.p.A.

On 9th November, 2021, Mitsui & Co reached an agreement to acquire 100% shares of ISI Sementi S.p.A (ISI).

Founded in 1981, ISI is a reputed vegetable seeds company engaged in research, production, and sales of vegetable seeds. Headquartered in Fidenza, Italy, ISI has long-standing, favorable relationships in over 60 key agricultural countries and a strong footprint in the Mediterranean market where Mitsui considers to be strategic in the backdrop of its vibrant and integral role in global agriculture, e.g. research and development, talent, greater food eco-system. Through this acquisition Mitsui intends to continue to build on ISI’s business foundation, namely, to further invest in its research and development programs and recruit more talent. Additionally, Mitsui aims to bring varieties developed by its other group companies, including Japan Vegetable Seeds, a joint venture with 4 Japanese research based vegetable seed companies, to complement ISI’s product portfolio. Furthermore Mitsui will be supporting ISI’s growth in international markets by leveraging its global presence and sales channels.


 

Angelo Boni and Paolo Boni, the owners of ISI Sementi commented “We identified Mitsui as the ideal company to continue and further develop what ISI has built during the last 40 years. Mitsui & Co. acquisisce ISI Sementi S.p.A

Il 9 novembre 2021, Mitsui & Co ("Mitsui", Sede Centrale: Tokyo, Presidente e CEO: Kenichi Hori) ha raggiunto un accordo per l'acquisizione del 100% delle azioni di ISI Sementi S.p.A. (ISI).

Fondata nel 1981, ISI è una rinomata azienda italiana che si occupa di ricerca, produzione e commercializzazione di sementi orticole professionali. Con sede a Fidenza (PR), la ISI ha instaurato e consolidato nel tempo, ottimi rapporti commerciali in oltre 60 Paesi nel mondo e ha una forte presenza nel mercato mediterraneo che Mitsui considera strategico nel contesto dell’agricoltura globale. Attraverso questa acquisizione, Mitsui intende continuare e a migliorare il processo di crescita della ISI, attraverso investimenti nei programmi di ricerca e sviluppo ed il reclutamento di nuovi talenti.
Inoltre, Mitsui si propone di completare il portafoglio di prodotti della ISI, grazie alle altre società del gruppo, tra cui Japan Vegetable Seeds (JVS), una joint venture costituita da 4 società giapponesi di sementi orticole specializzate nella ricerca. Mitsui supporterà poi la crescita di ISI nei mercati internazionali sfruttando la sua presenza globale e i suoi canali di vendita.
