Role Purpose
A sales
representative acts as an ambassador for the
seed company. They are the face of the
company at the local level. They are very
familiar with the company’s products and how
they perform locally. They attend local
meetings and know the key influencers in the
area. They enjoy working with people and
manage a group of seed distributors in the
area.
Typical Work
Activities
- Meet
regularly with dealers and customers
- Study
company products and attend product training
sessions
- Recruit
dealers to fill territory gaps
- Lead sales
launch meetings in the territory
- Work with
the regional sales agronomists to provide
high level training to the dealers
- Become
familiar with competitor products and
programs
- Conduct
regular dealer meeting to inform dealers and
recognize, reward and motivate performance
Educational
Requirements
-
Training in agronomy, preferably at the
B.S. level
- Sales
training
Knowledge,
Skills and Experience Requirements
-
Three or more ag experience
including agronomy, crop production
and seed sales

Demonstrated experience in dealer
management, including recruitment

Demonstrated success in dealer
development
-
Demonstrated ability to work
independently and with minimum
supervision
