Supply Planning Coordinator

Location: Champaign, Illinois, USA

Job ID:  129074

We are looking for a Supply Planning Coordinator to join our Agricultural Solutions team based in Champaign, IL.

Come create chemistry with us!

BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division connects innovation, customers, partners and agricultural experts and integrates sustainability criteria into all business decisions. We help farmers deliver the best possible outcomes, working to achieve the balance between economic, environmental, and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture.

As a Supply Planning Coordinator, you will support the Supply Planning Manager with transactional and analytical tasks, including inventory analysis and reporting. Responsibilities also encompass master data management activities (material extensions, bill of materials (BOMs), recipes, quality inspection plans, costing, plant resources, and records) and supports the QMS Manager in developing and maintaining quality documentation and QA/QC practices across Seeds locations. The position also contributes to soybean hedge-related transactional and pricing activities for internal and external processes.

As a Supply Planning Coordinator, you create chemistry by...

  • Assisting with managing and coordinating soybean seed finished inventories, keeping records and logs of active process orders, bagging reports, lab sample receipts, quality releases, and variance approvals accurate and up to date, and communicating major discrepancies to production managers, finance, and senior leaders.
  • Analyzing inventory control processes, recommending and implementing improvements, supporting related business-improvement initiatives, and exploring tools, software, and cross‑business solutions to boost efficiency.
  • Supporting creation and maintenance of plant resources, BOMs, recipes, production versions, and inspection plans while ensuring accurate material consumption for new, rework, and reclassification orders, resolving extension, costing, and master‑data issues, and leading the annual cleanup and updates to reflect process and budget changes.
  • Supporting the Soy Quality Manager with transactional activities, processes, systems, training, third‑party coordination, measurement, NCM/CAPA/OFI/deviation/MOC handling, quality control and auditing, and contributing to the North America Seed Supply Quality Community to drive QMS and product-quality improvements, and reviewing third‑party lab invoices for contract accuracy.
  • Helping the supply planning manager with finished seed inventory analysis making recommendations for capturing opportunities for rework, consumption of slow-moving raw materials, and timely disposal of non-conforming or obsolete materials.
  • Assisting as needed in soybean seed operations or other assignments as directed by management including new system upgrades, writing scripts, and performing UAT testing as required, as well as invoice processing ensuring accuracy and on time payment.
  • Placing orders with commodity brokers as needed and recording all hedge activities in the hedge‑tracking workbook.

If you...

  • Have a BA/BS degree in supply chain management or a related discipline.
  • Hold a certification in Supply Chain Management (APICS, CSCP) as a preferred qualification.
  • Bring 5 to 8 years of experience in agriculture supply chain management, inventory control, or a related field.
  • Have operations experience in supply chain activities and inventory management and control.
  • Show demonstrated experience in using analytical tools to solve work-related problems and identify best practices.
  • Strong data analytic skills and proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exhibit an understanding and knowledge of the seed industry, or an industry that serves customers directly.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage internal teams (e.g., customer service, commercial business, production, and quality managers) and external partners (e.g., seed multipliers and retailers).
  • Are well organized with a natural ability to structure communication and work, demonstrate a strong independent work ethic to prioritize and complete tasks, develop solutions that drive results, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
