Breeding Technician

Location: Myakka City, Florida, USA

Enza Zaden in Myakka City, Florida is looking for highly motivated research minded individual to join our team.

What will you do?

As a Breeding Technician you will provide support in the execution of the breeding programs at our Research and Development station in Myakka City, Florida. Responsible for preparation of the seed lots necessary for the breeding/screening trials. Assistance in sowing, monitoring germination after sowing, pricking out and planting.
Execution of crossing programs and related activities on the instructions of the Breeder. Other duties as assigned.

Your power
You are someone who takes initiative, recognizes opportunities, and has an organized method of working. You are eager to learn and grow in the vegetable seed industry. Once trained you can work independently, but you are also able to work in a cross-functional teams.

In short, you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, horticultural or plant science is preferred.
  • Any training and experience relevant to the job preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of English, both verbal and written is required.
  • The ability to speak and understand Spanish is highly desired.
  • Ability to learn the breeding administration software.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Work on weekends and Holidays, as necessary.
  • Work outside in different weather conditions.
  • Travel within the USA (10-20%).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Compensation & Benefits:

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the pay range and benefits for the position posted. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, and other objective job-related factors.

Hourly Pay Range estimated $19.45 - $22.00 per hour.
