We invite you to help us shape the future of agriculture. At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, we are currently seeking a Seed Health Quality Control Analyst in Nampa, ID.

You will help shape the future of agriculture by:

  • Conducting seed health bacterial testing activities, including scheduling, processing samples with liquid plating methods, and confirmation testing using biochemical and pathogenicity assays for vegetable seeds. This effort in cooperation with other seed health staff is to support Quality Control testing for basic and commercial seeds to deliver customer focused world class supply

Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership for HSE compliance and continuous improvement for all QC testing activities
  • Conduct the liquid plating-based testing for bacteria recovery on vegetable seeds in the seed health laboratory to meet demand levels and ensure optimum capacity is met
  • Coordinating growth of indicator or host plants and bacterial isolates for pathogenicity tests
  • Rating biochemical assays and pathogenicity test results
  • Provide support for other seed health testing activities
  • Implement staff training programs to support staff cross training across seed health methods and ensure HSE compliance within each process
  • Inventory management of laboratory supplies associated with routine testing
  • Coordinate lab spaces and equipment for shared processes
  • Planning and scheduling sample testing based on forecasts or priority assignments from stakeholders
  • Support complaint and claims investigations as determined by method demands for samples including destructive sampling of plant tissues and bacteria isolation 
  • Following all Syngenta Biosafety/APHIS rules for handling diseased tissue samples or seed
  • Record and communicate sample test results and maintain accurate records
  • Provide technical support and analysis in making quality decisions related to inventory disposition that is compliance with Syngenta’s risk management policies, standards, and KPIs
  • Support the development and validation of new seed health testing methodology
  • Participate in comparative testing activities as part of Syngenta, and ISHI activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A B.S. in a relevant field is preferred, but applicants with B.S. degree and commensurate experience will be considered; relevant fields of study include microbiology, molecular biology, plant pathology and other related fields
  • Experience working with a large, multicultural team
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Must be authorized to work for Syngenta in the United States without work authorization sponsorship
