POSITION SUMMARY

Support breeding activities of the Fresh Market Tomato Program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES  

This position will assist with all breeding activities of the Fresh Market Tomato Breeding Program, with focus on:

• Data entry and report of field trials
• Seed harvest and processing for international shipments
• Greenhouse activities and information management
• Supervision of seasonal workers in the field

Profile

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Enrolled in College or BSc completed. Preferred fields: Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biology
• Ability to work in group and independently
• Attention to detail
• Pro-active, engaged and creative
• Committed to work and punctuality
• Excellent communication skills: clarity, concision and ability to quickly learn new processes
• Valid CA driver's license

Required knowledge & Skills

• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Work early mornings and in extreme heat conditions
• Strong computer skills and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Non-tobacco user (due to the risk of disease from tobacco that can be transmitted to tomatoes (Tmv)
