Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

• The Lab Manager will directly manage support activities and local laboratory in the domain in order to support clients (Breeding, T&T, Supply Chain and Marketing)
• Management of the local activities and cell biology team for production of data/plants supporting clients, and leading technical implementation projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES  

• •Plan, organize and ensure execution of Support activities in the domain in local research facilities to support breeder/client requirements.
• Ensure that data/results are produced by the team with the best quality and efficiency for timelines and costs.
• Manage the transfer of application tools and methods resulting from research, LVS and external partners, as well as improve protocols, methods and processes in a spirit of continuous improvement and cost effectiveness.
• Develop and manage the team dedicated to these activities.
• Propose and manage OPEX, PERC and CapEx dedicated to these activities.
• Support definition of requirements for technical implementation and lead relevant projects.
• Actively participate in activities in the lab and in the greenhouse (~50% of total activity).
• Establish schedule and timelines for annual activities including an activity by labor requirement.
• Provide training and support, as needed, for activities in the domain.
• Propose and manage KPI for the activities.
• Generate reports and summaries required in a timely manner.
• Assign and oversee key objectives with direct report(s) and the team.
• Review and approve domain Support team performance management (i.e. performance appraisals, employee advancement, disciplinary actions).
• Follow workplace safety rules, regulations, standards and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Profile

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Master of Science or Bachelor's +10 years' experience required in the domain, in combination with strong experience in lab management
• Experience in Production/Work Flow Process
• English language skills mandatory

Travel required: Up to 1-5% regionally and internationally
