Production Intern

Location: Danbury, Texas, USA

As a technology-based rice company, we’re still innovating today with a focus on products that bring high value to the growers who choose to plant our seed.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Assist Agronomists and other employees to manage crop in assigned areas to achieve and exceed yield and quality targets. Give attention to field crop agronomy to foresee potential issues and manage and mitigate those impacts.  Utilize leading edge IPM practices to optimize results for cost, quality and yield
  • Support field activities with other employees in accordance with protocols (i.e. planting, mowing, GA, fungicides, helicoptering, harvest, routing, and data entry)
  • Support ESH initiatives as requested by manager
  • Operating field equipment tillage, planting, spraying, harvest
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on field and plant equipment
  • Aid in data collection and entry for production activities
  • Lead data collection efforts for local Production Research experimental trials
  • Field scouting, field data collection
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all work and conversations
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Actively enrolled in college or university pursuing a degree
  • Valid driver’s license

Successful candidate will also possess:

  • Mechanical and equipment operations aptitude
  • Safety conscious worker and lead by example
  • Ability to work long hours for up to seven days a week, inside and outside for extended periods of time
  • Technology savvy, operate Windows based computers for data collection, data entry  and mobile instruments to measure and record data
  • Teamwork skills to work with peers and other employees to accomplish tasks efficiently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and complete work that may involve repetitive motion or lifting.
