DigiTerra to Implement J.D. Edwards software, co-develop grower/crop management solution with Apio, Inc.

Englewood & Denver, Colorado
April 25,  2001

DigiTerra, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CIBER, Inc. (NYSE:CBR) and leading services provider of e-business and enterprise solutions, is implementing and integrating J.D. Edwards' (Nasdaq:JDEC) OneWorld(R) Financials, Distribution and Manufacturing solutions for Apio, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Landec Corporation (Nasdaq:LNDC).

Additionally, DigiTerra and Apio are co-developing a grower/crop management solution using J.D. Edwards' infrastructure, with minimal customizations.

Apio, a leading marketer and packer of whole produce and specialty packaged fresh-cut vegetables, chose DigiTerra and J.D. Edwards because of J.D. Edwards' proven experience in the retail and consumer packaged goods industries and DigiTerra's experience with providing cost-effective grower accounting solutions within J.D. Edwards' applications.

With company headquarters located on the central coast of California, Apio maintains operations throughout Central and Southern California where 80 percent of vegetables are grown in the U.S. In addition to its fast growing fresh-cut vegetable business, Apio also provides harvesting and sales and marketing expertise to individual growers of whole produce, helping them to get products to market fast in a highly competitive marketplace. In their whole produce segment, Apio maintains individual contracts and reimbursement agreements with growers based on the particular services used and produce grown. Related grower accounting processes are very complex, time consuming and costly. To stay ahead of the competition and better support its growers and customers, Apio realized the company's business software applications needed to be more robust and better able to support all of its business processes, including grower accounting/crop management and overall business growth.

"DigiTerra and J.D. Edwards were selected based upon their ability to deliver a solid and cost-effective solution," said Kirk Tunnell, chief financial officer and project leader, Apio. "We expect the co-developed grower/crop management system to significantly improve our ability to efficiently and completely manage our grower-related activities. In addition, we expect to benefit greatly from more streamlined processes and greater management awareness of the key metrics that drive our business."

"As one of J.D. Edwards' top consulting partners, DigiTerra continues to demonstrate their commitment to our partnership by bringing opportunities like Apio to our attention," said Greg Carter, west area sales manager, J.D. Edwards. "DigiTerra's ability to adapt and extend OneWorld's applications with minimal customizations and create cost-effective, integrated and
collaborative solutions for niche market segments such as the grower industry benefits all parties involved."

"Apio chose a creative solution that addresses its complex business environment," said Bruce Danielson, executive vice president of client development, DigiTerra. "Because we know the J.D. Edwards applications so well and understand our client's business, we are able to develop solutions for unique business needs when others would say it was impossible or too costly an effort. We believe J.D. Edwards' solutions offer the flexibility to meet Apio's needs and others in the grower market segment, and that DigiTerra is the right services partner to implement those solutions."
