availability of four new alfalfas.
- Laser
had the highest yield of all varieties at Michigan State University’s
East Lansing location from 1993–98. Laser is especially
high yielding under very productive soils. Laser is a fall
dormancy 4 variety with a DRI (disease rating index) of 26/30.
- Radiant
alfalfa
ranks on top of all commercially released varieties at the
University of Wisconsin’s Marshfield and Arlington sites planted
in 1997. Radiant is a VERY high yielding,
persistent variety. Radiant is a full fall dormancy 4 variety
with a WSI rating of 2.0. Radiant expresses 98% multi-leaf
expression and has a DRI rating of 30/30.

- Ripin
alfalfa
is branch-rooted variety designed especially for poorly drained
soils. Ripin is a fall dormancy 4 variety with a DRI of
27/30.

Winter
Crown alfalfa was bred for especially for grazing and wheel
traffic. Winter Crown is a dual-purpose variety with a
crown of up to 1.5" below soils surface. Winter Crown is
a fall dormancy 3 variety with a DRI of 27/30.
