 The
J.R. Simplot Company’s Turf & Horticulture group has named Hiromi
Yanagisawa vice president and general manager of their newly
created International division. Yanagisawa will oversee the
division’s finances, logistics, business expansion, and product
sales, including turfgrass and forage seed, controlled release
fertilizers and other specialty products. He will also oversee the
division’s two overseas offices in China and Australia.
Yanagisawa’s office will remain at the Jacklin Seed office in
Post Falls, Idaho through June of this year. On July 1, 2001, he
will move to the group headquarters office in Boise, Idaho. Other
staff for this new division will relocate to the Boise
headquarters office this fall.
Mr. Yanagisawa joined
Jacklin Seed in 1983 in order to manage their newly created
international marketing department following an international
position with Snow Brand Seed Co., Ltd. He has been promoted
several times to progressively responsible positions within
Jacklin Seed, and he served most recently as vice president and
general manager.
According to group
president Bill Whitacre, the new position mirrors the group’s
enhanced commitment to international business. Whitacre said,
"This addition allows Simplot to leverage Hiromi’s
remarkable depth of global sales experience. His appointment will
enable Simplot’s continued growth to a world-class,
industry-leading level while adding another cornerstone in our
efforts to assemble the best management team in the green
industry."
Whitacre added,
"Hiromi has done a great job of managing Jacklin Seed during
the transition period following Doyle Jacklin’s retirement last
May. Under Hiromi’s direction, Jacklin Seed is having one of its
best financial years, in spite of the tough turfgrass seed market
conditions."
Bill Whitacre is in
the process of establishing a management team for Jacklin Seed
that will report directly to him.
