Pioneer announces special credit options programs; early pay savings program offered
Des Moines. Iowa
November 10, 1999

Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., has announced a special credit options program for qualified customers in 2000 that provides a wide range of benefits and choices. One option is the TruChoice(SM) Program, which offers customers the opportunity to finance their seed purchases and selected corn herbicide options at three percent below the prime interest rate.

Pioneer is again offering an Early Pay Savings program that reduces seed purchase costs for growers. In addition, the company has announced that over 90 percent of Pioneer® brand corn hybrids carry prices that are unchanged or lower, compared to last year, and all Pioneer brand soybeans with the Roundup Ready(1) gene will be unchanged for 2000.

"These financing packages are part of choices and options Pioneer will offer this year to meet every grower's needs and markets,'' says Bob Wichmann, vice president for North American Seed Sales, Pioneer Hi-Bred. "These include high-yielding, genetically enhanced and non-genetically enhanced (conventional) products; products for specialty markets, including white, waxy, hard endosperm, high oil and silage; and hybrids for the nutritional demands of livestock, dairy and poultry feeders.''

For 2000 seed purchases, Pioneer will offer deferred payment credit at 2.5 percent below the prime interest rate for customers who increase the retail value of their Pioneer purchases by ten percent or more over 1999 or who plant 90 percent of their corn and soybeans to Pioneer hybrids and varieties.

Pioneer customers who choose the TruChoice Program can expand the credit offering to three
percent below prime in 2000 by using DuPont-approved corn herbicides on 75 percent of their corn acres. To qualify, growers select from such corn herbicides as Accent Gold(2), Basis Gold(2), Accent(2), LeadOff(2) and Dual(3). The TruChoice Program is not available in areas of the
southeastern U.S.

In addition, the company is offering a seven percent Early Pay Savings discount for purchases made by January 8, 2000, a five percent discount for purchases made by February 12 and a two percent discount by April 30. Producers can earn additional savings through the Pioneer's Quantity Savings program, based on total dollars spent on Pioneer products.

For more details on these programs, growers should contact their local Pioneer Hi-Bred seed
supplier.
