iTV (Information Television Network), proudly announces that TIME, INC. HEALTH will be awarding a Best of Show
Statue for an episode of "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind" in the Nutrition category.
This show, called Agriculture Meets Medicine: Designing Healthier Foods,
highlights
the giant strides forward in nutritional food production and how doctors
and scientists are working together to accomplish feeding the world's hungry
people.
"Healthy Body, Healthy Mind" is a series of half-hour shows built upon the
idea that there are several very basic keys to good health: exercise, nutrition,
preventative health, mental health and recreation. The series is distributed
nationally over WebMD Television (formerly The Health Network).
The show from the series that won the Freddie was hosted by Wendy Rutledge, and
advised by Dr. Leonard Pike of Texas A&M Vegetable and Fruit Improvement
Center and Michael J. Wargovich, M.D. of the South Carolina Cancer Center. It was
sponsored by ROGERS® brand vegetable seeds, a brand of Novartis Seeds,
Inc.
"This is a time of exciting developments in agriculture," said John Sorenson,
president of Novartis Seeds Vegetables. "We're seeing huge improvements
in what we can offer consumers, ranging from better tasting and more nutritious
vegetables to applications that can address specific health problems and
even provide medical benefits. We are very pleased to be able to participate
in
high quality programming that exposes the public to some of this work."
Cristina Lerner, CEO of Information Television Network said, "We are so
proud to win this Freddie Award. It is very rewarding to be recognized for doing
well what we love to do." Ed Lerner, President, continues, "Being judged by
our peers and winning in the 2000 competition validates our continued commitment to
providing quality, informational television."
It is Lerner's passionate belief that television must be informatively
worthwhile as well as being entertaining; evidenced by their focus on health,
science and the environment.
