New Mycogen web site reflects commitment to grower profitability
Eagan, Minnesota
October 15, 1999

Mycogen Seeds is helping farmers gain more information – on the Internet.

The newly designed Mycogen Web site allows growers to tap into crop production calculators, local agronomic advice, as well as product positioning data and yield comparisons, says Randy Hagen, manager of sales information, Mycogen Seeds.

"‘Mycogen.com’ is a one-stop ag information site," Hagen says. "In addition to posting company and product information, we’ve added useful, interactive tools that help farmers make good business decisions."

For instance, the Web site’s unique online calculators can help predict cash flow per acre, corn
shrinkage for mechanical drying and ECB pressures, as well as provide useful silage production
information and more.

In a special section called "Problem Alert," growers can learn about pests, diseases and other issues that may cause yield losses within a specific geography. This section also offers detailed advice on how to control these problems.

Farmers also may browse through the library of "Field Talk" articles for up-to-date research and
agronomic information.

"Agriculture is experiencing some dramatic changes," Hagen says. "With this Web site, we want to deliver information to growers that is meaningful and useful to their individual operations, and help them make more efficient use of their time.

"We encourage our sales force, our customers and others in the seed industry to visit the site and see our new look, as well as the abundance of information we’ve made available," he says.

Mycogen Seeds, based in Eagan, Minn., is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. Mycogen markets grain corn, silage corn and nutritionally enhanced corn seed, as well as sunflower, canola, soybean, alfalfa and sorghum seed through a distribution system of sales representatives, distributors and retail outlets in the Corn Belt, the eastern United States and in major dairy areas throughout the country.
