January 14, 1999Monsanto Company announced today a U.S. multi-year
supply agreement with Micro Flo that also licenses rights to Monsanto's glyphosate
herbicide registration data. The agreement will allow Micro Flo to register its own brand
of glyphosate herbicide for sale in the United States.
Additionally, terms of the license agreement allow Micro Flo to use its own brand of
glyphosate
herbicide over the top of Roundup Ready soybeans and Roundup Ready cotton beginning
October 1, l999 and over Roundup Ready corn beginning October 1, 2000 in the United
States.
The agreement does not include lawn and garden uses.
Monsanto's Roundup and Roundup Ultra herbicides, which include the active ingredient
glyphosate, and Micro Flo's glyphosate brand(s) will compete with each other in the
agricultural marketplace.
All performance, crop safety and stewardship support concerning all uses of Micro Flo's
brand(s),
including over the top of pertinent Roundup Ready crops, is the responsibility of Micro
Flo.
The supply and licensing agreements apply to Micro Flo and its affiliates, including BASF
Corporation. No additional details were provided and all other terms are confidential.
