March 1999National Seed Company, a division of Jacklin Seed, has appointed Dan Biddick as its sales
representative for Wisconsin and Minnesota. He has extensive experience in the seed
industry, having worked for Trelay, Inc. in Wisconsin for more than 20 years.
Biddick will focus on working with selected sod farms in
Minnesota, as well as with a variety of seed markets in Wisconsin. He will be able to
supply seed customers in these areas from three different sources: National's main
warehouse in Downer's Grove, Ill., additional storage in Cambridge, Wis., as well as from
Jacklin Seed, Post Falls, Idaho. Biddick will have access to half a million pounds of seed
from the Downer's Grove location.
Tom Breier, president of National Seed, says, "Dan's
knowledge of seed requirements for sod production, commercial landscaping and residential
lawn improvement will strengthen our ability to serve seed customers in Wisconsin and
Minnesota."
National Seed markets the Green Medal brand of grass seeds
to mass merchandisers across the Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa.
The company's Vaughan's brand of premium boxed grass seed is sold through garden centers
and its National brand and Field of Dreams brands are sold to landscape Drofessionals
within a 125-mile radius of Chicago.
In 1997, National Seed became a wholly-owned division of
Jacklin Seed, one of the world's largest breeders, producers and marketers of turf, forage
and low-maintenance grass. Additionally, Jacklin Seed has one of the longest running
commercial research and development program in the turf seed industry.
Jacklin seed varieties are available through an extensive
