In
1998, Joe Messer, President of Daehnfeldt,
Inc., made the strategic decision to focus on Daehnfeldt's flower
seed business in North America. One of the results of this focus is
the expansion of Daehnfeldt's flower seed team. Among the most recent
changes are the promotion of Don MacIntyre from Product Manager to
Director of Marketing; the hiring of Kathy Cron to focus on retail
marketing programs; and the hiring of Nancy Smith as bookkeeper. In
addition, Jorn Egeskov, who has been with the company in Denmark for
several years, has moved to the company's headquarters in North
Manchester, IN to be the new Product Manager.
This expanded staff is working on a variety of marketing
initiatives designed to meet the needs of growers and retailers of the
company's products such as Festival Gerbera Daisy, Danova
Primula, Queen Begonia and Carnival Impatiens. Current
initiatives include the development of a retail program encompassing
point-of-sale materials (to be released in the first half of this
year) and a full-time marketing professional in the form of Kathy Cron
to support these programs. Additionally, the company is adding
functionality to its web site at www.daehnfeldt.com,
such as an on-line update detailing seed availability of all the
company's crops. Growers can also sign up for Daehnfeldt's Gerbera
Guarantee at the web site, and in the next several weeks, detailed
cultural information will be available on the web.
Tom Linwick, with over 20 years of growing experience, will
continue to fill Product Specialist responsibilities for Daehnfeldt,
Inc. and Shannon Neil will support customers in the vital order
processing/customer service role.
