Effective with the 2000 bedding plant season, Daehnfeldt,
Inc. announces a variety name change. The brand name "Festival
Gerbera Daisy" will now encompass the three Daehnfeldt
Gerbera series formerly known as Festival, Mardi Gras, and Masquerade.
The name is being changed for two key reasons. First,
all the Daehnfeldt Gerbera coming under the Festival Gerbera
Daisy umbrella have the same outstanding features and benefits
including a 90% or better germination rate, uniform growth and habit,
and a narrow flowering window. Second, the company believes that its
greatly expanded marketing programs, directed at retailers, consumers,
and growers, will be more effective under the umbrella brand of "Festival
Gerbera Daisy".
The new Festival Gerbera Daisy name will
encompass the former Mardi Gras Gerbera with its semi-double flower
form and the former dark-eyed Masquerade Gerbera. The now combined Festival
Gerbera Daisy series offers 12 single-flowered, light-eyed
varieties plus a mix, 7 dark-eyed varieties plus a mix, and 4
semi-double flowered varieties plus a mix. The series also includes a
mini Gerbera mix and a spider flowered variety.
