The seed industry recognized one of its
own on February 9, 2000, as it honored Mr. Lloyd Seekarnp for his 40
years of contributions and service.
Held in the Pikes Peak Ballroom at the
University of Northern Colorado, more than 50 people gathered to
recognize Mr. Seekamp on his special evening. Accompanied by his wife,
Zola, Mr. Seekamp was also accompanied by his children Lloyd
"Rusty" Seekamp and Kathy Petersen. Roeland Kapsenberg,
President/CEO of Barenbrug USA,
was the master of ceremonies and spoke of the many highlights of
Lloyd's accomplishments.
Career highlights contain a long list
of achievements including service with the Marines, working for
numerous seed companies beginning in 1960, and holding several
positions in the Missouri and Colorado Seedsmen Associations,
including President in 1998. In 1974, Seekamp and his family moved to
Greeley, Colorado to become a partner in Anderson Seed Company. In
1983, Lloyd started Seekamp Seed Company in Greeley, Colorado. The
main offices are now located in Gilcrest. On July 1, 1999, Barenbrug
USA purchased Seekamp Seed Company, becoming a part of the worldwide
Barenbrug Group. Lloyd Seekamp continues as General Manager of
Barenbrug Colorado.
