Liberty Herbicide label expanded in Canada - New tank-rnixes and weeds added to the Liberty Herbicide label means increased flexibility for corn producers
Guelph, Ontario
November 24, 1999

AgrEvo Canada has announced several additions to the label of Liberty Herbicide. "The registration of new tank-mixes and addition of several weeds to our label will give producers even more flexibility when using Liberty Herbicide in the year 2000", notes Greig Zamecnik, Liberty Herbicide Corn Product Manager.

"Our research and product development team are conducting trials every year with the aim of expanding our label to meet the needs of today's corn producer," says Zamecnik. He notes that several of the new registrations and many of the on-going research trials are based on their discussions with producers and applicators who see opportunities for Liberty Herbicide to be used on specific weeds or in specific tank-mix combinations.

Specific additions to the label of Liberty Herbicide include:

New weeds controlled:
- Chickweed
- Shepherd's Purse
- Bristly Foxtail
- Eastern Black Nightshade
- Perennial Sow Thistle
- Stinkweed
- Wild Buckwheat
- Wormseed Mustard.

New Tank-Mix Combinations:

Liberty Split Applications
Liberty can now be applied in split applications when new weed germination or growth is present. The second application of Liberty is made at 1.2 to 1.5 L/ha approximately 10 to 14 days after the initial application. "Many producers have asked about split-applications of Liberty, as they like the crop safety feature of the Liberty Link program. The second application of Liberty allows producers to control additional flushes of weeds without the concern of herbicide damage, given the crop safety built into Liberty Link hybrids to Liberty Herbicide", notes Zemecnik.

Liberty plus Marksman
New for this year, Liberty Herbicide can be applied with a reduced rate of 2.5 L/ha (1 L/ac) of Marksman, improving the economics of this highly effective tank-mix program,

Liberty plus Prowl
Liberty can now be tank mixed with Prowl up to the 4 leaf stage of corn growth to provide residual control of annual grasses plus Lambsquarters and Reedroot Pigweed.

Zameenik says the ever increasing list of available Liberty Link hybrids combined with the flexibility of Liberty Herbicide, and increased yields from the Liberty Link System is making this program a first option with many producers.
