Sakata Seed Corporation acquires Reed’s Seeds cabbage genetics

Sakata Seed America and Alf Christianson Seed Company are pleased to announce the purchase of Reed’s Seeds cabbage genetics by Sakata Seed Corporation of Yokohama, Japan. The purchase includes all existing
commercial varieties as well as the genetics from this long standing and highly regarded breeding program.

Reed’s Seeds cabbage program, based in Cortland, New York, includes various kinds of hybrid cabbage consisting of market leading fresh market green and red, savoy, processing and storage types. The addition of these varieties expands and broadens Sakata’s already excellent and diverse cabbage line globally. The infusion of these new genetics into Sakata’s breeding program is sure to produce exciting future hybrids.
Sakata Seed Corporation looks forward to developing new and superior cabbage varieties for growers around the world.

Reed’s Seeds will continue to operate their seed dealership business, which includes the representation of the Sakata and Chriseed branded line of vegetable products.
