Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc. announces new Nova Pod packaging

Guelph, Ontario, Canada
January 9, 2009

Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc. is pleased to announce the Nova Pod™, the revolutionary new packaging for Horizon® NG with a ‘next generation’ look.

The Nova Pod is a breakthrough approach to herbicide packaging that is easy to use, easy to handle and easy to dispose of. The new packaging includes two strategically placed handles and an innovative ‘spike zone,’ and eliminates the cardboard box. Together with the pre-mixed Horizon NG formulation, these new features are intended to provide an easy experience for producers.

“Dispensing herbicides can be an arduous task for some producers,” says Dean Hironaka, Crop Manager, Cereals, Syngenta. “Carrying the jugs, spiking the container, and measuring and mixing adjuvant is often a messy, complicated process. Syngenta has created the Nova Pod to relieve producers of these frustrations and help make the process quick and easy.”

The Nova Pod, which can be easily identified by its bright blue packaging, includes dual handles and is shaped to make it easy to lift, carry, store and stack. The pod also has a new ‘spike zone’ that simplifies spiking on a chem handler. Measuring and mixing of adjuvant is also eliminated with the new Horizon NG formulation, which comes pre-mixed with adjuvant.

Proper jug cleaning and disposal can be another time-consuming but important step. Because the Nova Pod eliminates two jugs, clean up is faster and easier as there are fewer jugs to haul and no cardboard box to dispose of.

“We recognize that producers have been frustrated by packaging in the past and we are excited to announce this new innovation,” says Hironaka. “We are confident it will increase the efficiency of our customers’ operations, and make their lives a little easier at the same time.”

The new Nova Pod containing Horizon NG will be available for the 2009 growing season.
