New introductions expand
Wyffels’ maturity range to broadest in company history
Wyffels Hybrids has
announced the introduction of seven advanced corn hybrids to its
commercial lineup for 2010, which now extends from 96 to 117 in
relative maturity. The company has conducted proprietary corn
research and breeding for over 30 years. That extensive
experience, along with the scale and intensity of Wyffels’
research commitment, has positioned the company as an
acknowledged leader in corn genetics. Over the last three years,
Wyffels has accelerated the release of diverse, high-performing
and well-tested hybrids through its unique research and
development process and proprietary trait integration program.
“With the release of these new products, our maturity range and
genetic diversity are at an all-time high,” said Dr. Fritz Behr,
vice president of research at Wyffels Hybrids. “Our goal is to
provide growers with a complete hybrid lineup that combines our
proprietary new inbred lines and advanced genetics with
cutting-edge advancements in seed technologies. Growers can
adopt these new products with complete confidence.”
New corn hybrids announced
W1721 (96 RM,
YieldGard VT Triple®) An excellent early hybrid with
outstanding yield potential across environments, W1721 comes
on strong with good early vigor and fast canopy development,
continues with solid agronomics, and finishes with
impressive drydown of high test weight grain.
W2751 (102 RM, YieldGard VT Triple) This new hybrid
will bring growers a great combination of top-end yields and
rapid drydown. It’s widely adaptable across soil types, has
very good drought tolerance, nice staygreen, and can handle
higher populations for more dollars per acre.
W5051 (107 RM, YieldGard VT Triple) Here’s a solid
yield performer with excellent drydown, in the W5281
tradition. Expect very good early vigor, green snap
resistance, and drought tolerance. W5051 will respond to
higher populations with an extra yield punch.
W6261 (109 RM, YieldGard VT Triple) Expect this
newcomer to be a focus product in its maturity with an
excellent combination of stable, high yields plus rugged
root and stalk strength. W6261 is a shorter stature plant
with good disease and drought tolerance and is highly
recommended for continuous corn.
W6871 (110 RM, YieldGard VT Triple) From its
impressive early canopy, to a great finish with excellent
yield-to-moisture ratios, growers will like W6871. This is a
stable, high-yielding hybrid that has a very good drought
tolerance rating and is engineered for tough soils.
New non-GMO hybrids released
W3730 (104 RM) is a
non-GMO hybrid with amazing yields for its maturity, even in
tough environments. Add excellent early vigor, unmatched
roots and stalks, tough drought tolerance, and fast drydown
for a solid package. W3730 is a great choice for continuous
corn acres, and it will stand strong for a wide harvest
window.
W6440 (109 RM) brings exciting, reliable yield
performance in a non-GMO choice with unique genetics. This
new option has excellent early canopy development,
exceptional roots and stalks, and fast drydown. W6440
displays good natural resistance to European corn borer and
a high tolerance to anthracnose.
