AVRDC holds Seed Pathology and Seed Health Technology Course at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania

The second Seed Pathology and Seed Health Technology Course was held at Sokoine University of Agriculture’s African Seed Health Centre on 2-27 March 2009. Jointly organized by AVRDC’s Regional Center for Africa
and the African Seed Health Center, the course drew 16 participants from eight countries. Fifteen of the participants were sponsored by the Vegetable Breeding and Seed Systems in sub-Saharan Africa (vBSS) project, including four seed multiplication specialists, one research assistant, eight seed analysts, and three plant quarantine services officers.

The course covered all aspects of good quality seed production, seedborne diseases and detection, and the latest technologies in the field.

Sampling procedures and plant quarantine regulations were also covered.
