Growers and agronomists are
turning up in droves to the Roundup Ready accreditation courses
held by Monsanto Australia
Ltd across Victoria and NSW. Over four hundred people have
already attended the courses that are designed to provide
farmers with the agronomic and commercial information they
require if they choose to grow Roundup Ready canola in 2009.
There are sixteen accreditation courses in all and attendees
have the opportunity to ask questions about any component of the
program. Growers must be accredited to enter into a Technology
User Agreement with Monsanto.
Growers are most interested in the practicalities of growing
Roundup Ready and are asking about the features and benefits of
the technology, co-existence and stewardship principles,
resistance management, when and how to apply herbicide in-crop,
crop safety, machinery hygiene and the Technology User
Agreements.
Tony May, Canola Business Lead, Monsanto said, “After the
success of the 2008 season, preliminary enquiries have exceeded
our expectations and we anticipate many more growers and
agronomists will attend these accreditations”.
The accreditation courses held throughout February and March
takes attendees through the requirements for accreditation and
details the next steps for those who are considering signing a
Technology User Agreement. Growers wishing to attend an
accreditation course should contact Monsanto directly to locate
their nearest course date, time and venue.
