Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
September 23, 2008
On Thursday 18th September 2008,
during the celebrations organized to mark the 40th anniversary
of INCOTEC and the 15th anniversary of PROTEIOS, a member of the
INCOTEC Group, Mr. Jan de Boer was presented with the INCOTEC
Innovation Award 2008.
In 1968, Mr. Jan de Boer began some pioneering research into
technological seed treatment within the newly started commercial
seed coating activities of Royal Sluis, the start of the present
concern INCOTEC.
Mr. Jan de Boer is a man with vision concerning the demand for
seed technology treatment to improve enormously the quality and
germination of agricultural seed under widely varying
circumstances. He was able to transform scientific research into
commercial seed technology products and combine these with
existing coating activity. In this way it became possible to
coat many types of seed regardless of their germination dormancy
and to produce lettuce in extremely high temperatures e.g., in
Southern Europe and the deserts of Yuma in Arizona.
Mr. de Boer was part of the base which formed the present
company INCOTEC, INtegrated Seed and COating TEChnology. For the
innovations developed by Mr. Jan de Boer, which are of great
importance for the agriculture and horticulture industries in
general, and in particular for INCOTEC, Mr. JanWillem Breukink,
CEO and President of the INCOTEC Group presented him with the
first INCOTEC Innovation Award.
During the last 40 years,
INCOTEC has, through innovations in the field of seed and
coating technology, gained a prominent position within the seed
industry as regards adding value to seed and other starting
materials. With facilities in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands (Head
Office), Japan, Australia, China, India, Brazil, USA and South
Africa INCOTEC is a worldwide enterprise. |
