Mycogen Seeds announces that Stephen Smith and
Keith Porter have been promoted to the roles of National
Sales Leader and Agronomy Services Leader, respectively. Greg
Cannon has expanded his responsibilities in his position as
Forage Products Marketing Specialist, and John Kalthoff
has accepted the position of Oil Seeds Marketing Specialist.
“These organizational changes demonstrate the continued
commitment of Dow AgroSciences to growing and providing
additional resources to Mycogen Seeds,” says Doug Vail, Mycogen
Seeds General Manager.
In the newly created position of Sales Leader for Mycogen Seeds,
Smith will provide leadership to the Mycogen Seeds sales
force and help equip sales representatives with the proper tools
to build better customer relations and make more successful
sales calls.
“Stephen’s previous experience will help to bring needed focus
to our sales team to significantly increase company contact at
the grower level,” Vail says.
Prior to his new role, Smith served as Agronomy Services Leader
for Mycogen Seeds. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree
from Pennsylvania State University and joined Mycogen Seeds in
1997.
Porter will be taking over the role of Agronomy Services
Leader, overseeing all customer agronomists. In this new
position he will be responsible for educating the Mycogen Seeds
commercial organization about new hybrids and technologies
coming to the market.
“Keith’s strong background in agronomy services and more than 20
years of experience in the seed business will be major assets
for leading the agronomy staff and helping to build the Mycogen
Seeds business,” Vail says.
Previously, Porter served as the Oil Seeds Marketing Specialist.
He received a bachelor’s and a master’s from Iowa State
University and joined Mycogen Seeds in 1996.
Filling the Oil Seeds Marketing Specialist position is
Kalthoff, previous Project Leader for Seeds, Traits and
Oils. He will oversee marketing and industry relations for the
sunflower, soybean and canola segments of the Mycogen Seeds
business.
“With experience in marketing and the production process, John
will be a great addition to the Mycogen Seeds oils team,” Vail
says.
Kalthoff received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and
a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He joined Dow
AgroSciences in 1989 and Mycogen Seeds in 2006.
Cannon has received additional responsibilities in his
current position of Forage Products Marketing Specialist. Dairy
nutrition specialists who reported to Smith will now report to
Cannon as they provide support for the MYCOGEN® brand
SILAGE-SPECIFIC™ corn business.
“Greg will play an integral role in the continued growth of this
organization and leadership in the silage business with his
added responsibilities,” Vail says.
Cannon is a graduate of Southern Illinois State University and
joined Mycogen Seeds in 1999. He has held a variety of sales and
