Pride Seeds has
announced that as part of the Pride FX system, the company will
be selling soybean seed by seed count for the 2009 planting
season and beyond.
“Selling by seed count provides our customers with a more
efficient way of planning for their soybean seed needs given
that most producers today are planting by seed count,” says
Stephen Denys, Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Pride
Seeds.
“Instead of guessing at inventory needs by weight, growers can
count on the fact that all Pride Seeds’ paper bags will contain
140,000 seeds per bag (versus the traditional 22.7 kg) while
totes will carry 5,000,000 seeds. The same seed count will be
used for all varieties.”
Denys says this move will allow producers to better match their
seed purchases to their expected planting populations. It also
removes any concerns producers had around the price per bag
versus the size of seed or seed count in the bag given that seed
size and weight can vary by variety and by the environmental
conditions in seed fields during the growing season.
“The result is greater efficiency and inventory control for our
customers, our dealers and for ourselves as a seed company.”
Denys advises growers to consult with their Pride Seeds’ dealers
on the total Pride FX soybean program for the 2009 growing
season including the use of Cruiser Maxx seed treatment and
HiStick N/T soybean
inoculant to boost soybean yields by up to 4 bushels per acre.
“We are also advising growers to book early in order to secure
their variety and seed treatment choice”, adds Denys. “Doing
this by seed count provides an even more efficient way of
ensuring seed requirements are met.”
