Rod Merryweather has been promoted
to the newly created role of North American Oilseeds Business
Operations Manager.
Rod Merryweather, well known in the Agriculture industry and
currently Director of Sales at
Bayer CropScience,
has been promoted to the newly created role of North American
Oilseeds Business Operations Manager within the company’s
BioScience division – a major step in expanding its leading
InVigor hybrid seed and technology legacy.
“Through his leadership of the sales team, Rod has been
instrumental in the launch and growth of our InVigor® canola
business over the past decade,” said Garth Hodges, Oilseed
General Manager, BioScience with Bayer CropScience in Calgary.
“His depth of knowledge and the respect he’s earned in the
industry over the years will be a significant asset as we
continue bringing superior-performing canola hybrid and new
technology to Western Canadian growers.”
Merryweather’s appointment reflects the continued growth and
importance of the BioScience division within the company. Bayer
holds the top position in the hybrid canola market in North
America.
“Having this new North American leadership role based in Western
Canada tells you a lot about where we’ve come and where we’re
going,” said Hodges. “Rod’s appointment adds a lot of strength
to our team.”
Merryweather’s department will oversee plant breeding, seed
production, seed processing, marketing and finance for the
BioScience unit on a North American basis. He will continue to
be based at the head office in Calgary, Alberta.
With 26 years of sales and marketing experience, Merryweather
has been Bayer CropScience Canada’s Director of Sales since
2004. His previous roles with Bayer and its predecessor
companies have included Director of Marketing for Western
Canada, Product Manager and Regional Sales Manager.
Merryweather holds an Ag Economics (Marketing) degree from the
