Stripe Rust Situation at mid Spring 2008

Wheat stripe rust continues to cause problems through the mid spring period in 2008, and especially in central and northern NSW, and southern Queensland. Chemical control has been extensive; industry sources across the
nation indicate that approximately $50million has been expended on fungicide purchases alone, with additional
expenditure for application costs. Fungicides are still being considered in late crops that are in some instances
showing evidence of recent infection.
