Indiana Crop Improvement
Association will host the 23rd Annual Illinois-Indiana Seed
Conditioning Workshop on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the
Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites at Keystone Crossing. The
workshop program is jam-packed with 10 speakers covering a
variety of key issues including Seed Cleaning Basics, Seed
Treatment Issues, Inkjet Printing, Intellectual Property,
Safety, Technology Traits, and Testing - and will wrap up with a
presentation on customer service and professionalism. After the
long day of learning, participants are encouraged to stay and
network during a hosted social hour and also consider staying on
for the ICIA Annual Conference slated for the following Thursday
and Friday.
“Mega Trends in Global Agriculture” is the headline theme for
Indiana Crop Improvement Association’s 109th Annual Conference
set for on Thursday and Friday, February 5 and 6, 2009 at the
Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites at Keystone Crossing.
Thursday’s general session will cover financial issues
including, Commodity Price Drivers, the Genesis of the Financial
Panic, Forecasting 2009 Farm Prices, and Financing in the Global
Agribusiness marketplace. After a break for lunch and awards,
there will be an in-depth session covering multiple aspects of
Corn Production Management followed by the traditional
workshops. One workshop will further address Corn Production and
Management, while the other features Soybean and Small Grain
Production and Management.
“Managing Production Risks in a Volatile Market” is the theme
for a Friday morning program attendees will not want to miss.
Three major topics will be addressed by specialists in their
field. Richard Brock of Brock Associates will address the “New
Commodity Market,” Allan Gray of Purdue University will cover
“ACRE – Provision in the 2008 Farm Bill” and Larry Huff of Kova,
Inc. will touch on the challenges of “Managing Day to Day Input
Costs.”
In light of today’s dramatic financial circumstances ICIA’s 2009
Annual Conference promises to be one to address real and
relevant issues facing farmers, seed companies and the seed
industry as a whole.
