Dow AgroSciences LLC announced today plans to expand its
Mycogen Seed processing
plant located in York, Neb. The site expansion will enhance
capabilities to meet the growing demand for seed corn in North
America.
The expansion project will increase the company’s seed drying
and storage capacity by approximately 50 percent at the York
site to allow additional production in the region. In addition,
the project will include additional automation that will
increase efficiencies and productivity. The York facility
expansion is the first of several seed expansion projects
planned by Dow AgroSciences to take place over the next five
years.
“We already have a long history growing and processing seed corn
in the York area with both a production site and R&D Field
Station in this area since the mid-80’s. The investment project
to expand at our existing site in York was an easy decision as
it allows us to build on our current capabilities in a location
that is centrally located related to our other sites across the
U.S.,” said Doug Vail, U.S. Mycogen Seeds Sales and Marketing
leader.
“York Operations is very excited about the expansion,” said Al
Olmsted, site leader, York site. “The people here are very proud
of what they do and the expansion demonstrates Dow AgroSciences
involvement in the seeds business. We are looking forward to the
opportunities this expansion will bring to this area.”
The expanded facility is expected to be operational by mid-
August 2008. Costs of the project were not disclosed.
