The National Corn Growers
Association has upgraded its
“Farmer to
Farmer” biotechnology resource center to update links to
other sites and add links to new resources. As technology
changes and new studies offer new perspectives, updates have
become essential – especially in the face of continued, if
limited, opposition.
“It’s a shame that some people
still want to force farmers to rely on outdated practices,” said
Rob Korff, vice chairman of NCGA’s Biotechnology Working Group
and a grower from Norborne, Mo. “This resource gives growers the
tools to challenge the opposition with the best available weapon
– the truth. Biotech gives us the yield we need to feed and fuel
the world, and it is not only safe but sustainable.”
“Farmer to Farmer” is a concept
developed by NCGA membership to help corn growers ensure they
continue to have wide range of technology options. The site
provides materials that will allow growers in areas that may
have legislation pending to restrict access to agricultural
technology to offer a strong rebuttal based on sound science to
the information put out by biotech opponents. This grassroots
approach allows growers to take control of issues that affect
them and leverage their credibility as good environmental
stewards.
