SGS North America, Inc. announces new seed testing laboratory

SGS North America, Inc. Agriculture Services Division is preparing to open a new seed testing facility in Memphis by June 2, 2008. This will increase the kind of tests offered and the possibility of one-stop-testing for many of the clients in the agricultural sector.

With the opening of the new facility, customers will be offered tests including germination, vigor, TZ testing, herbicide tolerance, physical and genetic purity and GMO (ELISA/protein, DNA/PCR, bioassays) on a wide variety of seed kinds. SGS will also provide tests needed to meet ISTA and CFIA certificate requirements.

The new SGS Seed Laboratory manager is David Johnston. He is a Registered Seed Technologist (RST) with the Society of Commercial Seed Technologists organization and has over 25 years of experience in performing numerous tests on a wide variety of seed kinds.
