Dr.
Manjit Misra, director of the
Seed Science
Center and the Biosafety Institute for Genetically Modified
Agricultural Products at Iowa
State University, has been named the Dean's Chair for
Distinction in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
As holder of the Dean's Chair for Distinction, Misra will expand
his international activities related to seed biosafety and work
on enhancing the curriculum for the new graduate program in seed
technology and business. He will continue to lead the Seed
Science Center and the Biosafety Institute for Genetically
Modified Agricultural Products, two units supported by the
College.
"Seed science and biotechnology are important tools to meet the
food and fuel needs of the world," Misra said.
Misra also is a professor in the agricultural & biosystems
engineering department. His new appointment was effective July
1.
Dean Wendy Wintersteen established the Dean's Chair for
Distinction as part of the Endowed Deanship in Agriculture and
Life Sciences. Part of the Dean's intent is to use the resources
of the Endowed Deanship to support faculty excellence. |
