Rob Fox, John Duncan, Mike Fox

Corn, soybean and alfalfa farmers across roughly 1.8 million acres of South Dakota now have access to whole new line up of seed products not available to them before. Two veteran seedsmen and an agribusiness professional from South Dakota have pooled their talents to launch AgVenture of South Dakota, LLC, providing South Dakota farmers in 30 counties with AgVenture® brand corn, soybeans and alfalfa products along with professional, localized support throughout the year.

John Duncan of Castlewood and Mike Fox of DeSmet felt the time was right to make a move that would mean they leave their positions with Pioneer to start a new company with a fresh approach to the seed business and a strong focus on farmers’ profitability.

Mike Fox stated, “Agribusiness is evolving at a new pace and in a new direction. We are the new distribution
resource for genetics, technology and professional seed expertise at the local level. We are focusing AgVenture
of South Dakota to be intensively proactive with our customers – delivering results they’ve never realized before.”

Duncan said, “The decision to join the AgVenture brand was truly simple once we learned about the diverse
seed genetics and technology base. AgVenture has access to the leading seed genetic and technology
providers in the industry. This business model allows us to hand-pick the right hybrids and varieties for our
farms here in South Dakota. We can apply our local perspectives to the advantage of our customers who
ultimately get the best seed choices available for the area combined with support that’s specifically adapted to
their operation’s needs.”

Vice President Sales and Marketing for AgVenture, Inc. (AVI) Jim Groepper said, “Basically, AgVenture of
South Dakota encompasses the broad territory of southeastern and south central South Dakota. We’re pleased
to welcome these true seed professionals to the AgVenture family and to offer our cutting-edge products to a
whole new region of the country.” He noted that the addition of AgVenture of South Dakota is proof of the
growing success of this national network of 38 of the largest and most successful independent regional seed
companies in the industry.

Duncan and Fox are joined in this business venture by Mike’s brother, Rob Fox of Madison. Rob will serve in a
business advisory role. Rob Fox stated, “We look forward to rolling out this unique business model. With more
than 7 decades of combined experience, we have a passion for our customers and for helping them achieve
new levels of profitable production. We’re dedicated to conducting business as it best allows the customer to
grow their business, their equity and their crop to its maximum profitability.” Rob will also continue with his
responsibilities as business development manager with AVI.

AgVenture, Inc. is the nation’s largest network of independently owned regional seed companies. Based in Kentland, Indiana, AgVenture provides this growing network of independently owned and managed seed business owners with seed products meeting exacting standards for quality, together with leading-edge genetics and technology. Since 1983, this unique marketing approach has allowed each individual company to match the hybrids it sells to the specific needs of the geographical area it serves. Combined with professional seed representation at a local level, AgVenture strives to help every grower realize more profit from every field.
