CIMMYT helps farmers

role in the study and adoption of conservation agriculture
in southeastern Mexico through capacity-building and
partnerships with key Mexican agricultural institutions over

Getting quality seed to maize farmers in eastern and
southern Africa
Despite strong growth in the private seed sector in eastern
and southern Africa over the last decade, most of region's
millions of small-scale farmers lack easy access to
affordable, quality seed of maize, the number-one food
staple. A major study by CIMMYT shows the need for active
investments in the region’s seed sector and for policies to
support its development.

A boost for maize in the State of Mexico
The State of Mexico, which borders the country’s capital,
Mexico City—a potential market of nearly 20 million
inhabitants—but farmers there have struggled to make a
profit growing maize. CIMMYT is working to help them, as
part of a new partnership between the US Department of
Agriculture (USDA) and the Mexican Agriculture Secretariat
(SAGARPA).
