Unique share risk programs support Americot quality cotton varieties

.

Lubbock, Texas
April 9, 2008

Americot, Inc. is committed to providing quality planting seed of high yield potential cotton varieties with excellent fiber properties. Americot also recognizes the weather risks that threaten growers, especially Southwest dryland growers.

In addition to providing high quality Americot® brand and NexGen™ brand cotton seed, the Southwest-based company shares weather risks with growers, according to Americot general manager Terry Campbell. "Hail and excessive winds can cause a stand loss in which a replant is necessary. Americot offer a 100 percent replant program for Southwest growers," he explains.

Under the replant program, any field planted first with an Americot or NexGen cotton variety and replanted with an Americot or NexGen variety in the same season is eligible for 100 percent reimbursement of the suggested retail price of the originally planted seed.

Americot also has a Drought Relief Program which applies to cotton grown in West Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico. “In the event of a drought, a grower whose cotton crop is lost or yields less than 150 pounds of lint per land acre, will get back about half or all his seed cost," Campbell says. “In the event we get summer rainfall, by planting an Americot or NexGen variety with Bollgard II®/Roundup Ready® Flex technology, you have Bollgard II protection for worms as well as the flexibility to control your weeds in a timely manner with Roundup Ready Flex. Our share risk programs enable growers to risk very little by planting our Bollgard II®/Roundup Ready® Flex varieties that offer high yield potential and excellent fiber quality.

"Additionally, no other cotton seed company offers 100 percent back on their cost for Roundup Ready cotton varieties. We recognize growers have adapted NG 821 R and NG 2448 R to their dryland production for yield and quality reasons. We are willing to assume all the risk because of the growers' commitment to using our NexGen Roundup Ready varieties on their dryland acres."
