Strong seed performance drives growth for AgVenture of Nebraska

.

Kentland, Indiana
September 20, 2007

Strong performance in the field has yielded significant growth in seed sales for AgVenture of Nebraska, LLC (AVN), prompting the addition of facilities and employees. Dennis Kenyon, AVN partner said, “Logistically, we needed to take a good look at how we can most efficiently serve our growers in this rapidly growing territory of central and eastern Nebraska.” For that reason, AVN has recently acquired a 26,000 square foot warehouse situated on 40 acres near Sutton, Nebraska. The Sutton warehouse includes an office and classrooms, and will be home to research/test fields.

In addition to facility growth, AVN has hired three new employees:

  • David Nall will be area salesman and warehouse manager at the AVN Sutton warehouse. Null will orchestrate warehousing and facilitate distribution and logistics from that location.
  • Lori McCroden has been hired as office manager. Her organizational and business office support skills will anchor the AVN Sutton location.
  • Ryan Gannon has been hired as area salesman for the Wood River Area. Gannon brings a background in seed sales experience and local knowledge of growers and growing conditions.

Nebraska growers are fast adopting the locally adapted hybrids and varieties that perform in Nebraska field environments. Partner Tim Weeces stated, “With AgVenture corn yields anticipated well over 220 bushels across the board, customers are both pleased and impressed with the results these products deliver.”

Meanwhile at Kearney, AVN’s Kenyon is constructing a new ProSelect warehouse. AVN is a joint venture among ProSelect, Inc. of Kearney, Nebraska, Seed Services of Nebraska, Inc., Minden, Nebraska, and Dave Warner at Albion, Nebraska and Jeremy McCroden at Sutton, Nebraska.

Kenyon and Weeces noted that the addition of the new facility and the construction of the Kearney warehouse allow them to save freight charges and be even more timely at delivering products to their customers’ fields. Kenyon added, “Combined with our facilities at Sutton, we have optimized our ability to serve customers throughout our service area.”

In 2000, not a single bag of AgVenture seed had been sold in Nebraska. In 2007 alone, AVN has seen across the board growth of more than 30% and projected increases are pegged at an additional 25% for 2008. Kenyon said, “Clearly the consistent and outstanding performance of AgVenture brand® corn, soybean and alfalfa seed products is driving this precipitous growth.”

“This is a good way to grow that benefits our customers on every level,” Kenyon said. AgVenture Inc. Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Jim Groepper agreed. “AgVenture’s unmatched access to traits from all three trait providers – including Monsanto, GreenLeaf and Dow AgroSciences, allows us to develop products that perform in Nebraska’s specific field environments and conditions. AVN’s willingness to expand to meet this strong and growing demand is testament to their commitment to serve their growers effectively – both with top-performing seed products and season-long support.”
