A pilot program for the variety
identification of wheat using DNA profiling for Agrifood
Technologies Pty. Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of AWB Ltd.)
has been successfully completed in one month.
This pilot program led to a
contract with Agrifood Technologies for high throughput routine
variety identification for wheat worth greater than $50,000,
providing results of an accuracy not achieved to date by any
other group.
The genotyping assay developed was
far superior to previously available tests in terms of accuracy,
throughput, and economy.
