Lincoln, New Zealand
May 11, 2007

The Chairman of Crop & Food Research, Richard Bentley, announced today that Mark Ward had been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crop & Food Research.

Mark replaces Paul Tocker who resigned in February to join PGG Wrightson.

Mark is currently General Manager, Food & Health, at AgResearch Limited, a position he has held for nearly three years. Prior to this, he held the position of Science Leader, Food Systems & Technology, with AgResearch, and from 1997 to 2002 he worked at Lactose New Zealand and at the New Zealand Dairy Research Institute where he was Section Manager, Food Science.

“Mark’s extensive experience in the food sector will further enable Crop & Food Research to progress the development of its food and related business activities,” Mr Bentley said. “This appointment will ensure that Crop & Food Research’s vibrant and strong science capability will continue to create increased economic value for New Zealand.”

Mark Ward has a BSc and MSc in Biochemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology from Auckland University and an MBA from Deakin University.

He will commence with Crop & Food Research, at Lincoln, in early June.
