Vegetable growers from across
Australia will meet in Sydney to explore how Australian grown
vegetables can become a greater priority in the eye’s of
Australian and international consumers. The industry gathering
will take place at the
Australian Vegetable Industry Conference, May 29-31, 2007.
The conference will feature
keynote presentations from Woolworths CEO, Michael Luscombe,
water expert Dr. Peter Cullen and Meat and Livestock Australia
Managing Director, David Palmer.
AUSVEG Chairman, Michael
Badcock said that the conference theme, ‘Vegetables Claim Centre
Plate’ is about discovering what consumers really want and what
as an industry can be done to match our products with the needs
and desires of consumers?
“People know that vegetables are
good for them but that alone doesn’t make them consume our
products. It’s time for industry to be bold and challenge
domestic and international consumers to increase their
consumption of Australian grown vegetables,” Michael said.
The conference program will have
something for all vegetable growers featuring presentations on
marketing, the water crisis, the Horticultural Code of Conduct,
Australian Vegetable Industry Development Group, vegetable

“The conference provides an
opportunity for growers and industry to share ideas and have
direct access to levy funded Research and Development,” Michael
said. The conference will host a large trade exhibition which
will feature industry related products and services.
“We thank industry partners, our
supply chain and all levels of government who have really got
