May 1, 2007

Wisconsin corn, soybean and alfalfa producers will now have access to AgVenture® brand corn, soybeans and alfalfa seed products thanks to a new agreement joining Spangler SeedTech, Jefferson, Wisconsin to the nation’s largest network of independently owned and operated regional seed companies.

The Spangler family has been raising seed corn since 1920 and began selling hybrid seed in 1937. Spangler SeedTech President, John Spangler said, “We believe in providing the best seed products to Wisconsin farmers at the best value. Joining AgVenture allows us to access the broadest sources of seed genetics and traits available on the market while remaining independent. That means Spangler SeedTech can move our product offerings to a level above and beyond choices Wisconsin farmers currently have.”

AgVenture, Inc (AVI), of Kentland, Indiana’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Jim Groepper said, “Spangler SeedTech has such a rich history, and their deep connections with Wisconsin farmers are evident. We feel strongly that joining AgVenture will offer them additional access to traits, genetics and technologies to allow their growers more profitability on every field.”

Spangler added, “With so much consolidation in the seed industry, joining AgVenture’s nationwide network allows us more clout in accessing genetics, traits, and technologies along with the ability to remain independent. When we combine that access with our knowledge of seed and of what works here in Wisconsin, it becomes a win-win situation for Wisconsin farmers.” He said, “Overall, it’s a great fit. Our people and business relationships will remain the same. The key difference is that with AgVenture, Spangler SeedTech can become more effective and better serve our customers with better product choices along with the service they know and trust.”

AVI Chief Executive Officer John Cassidy said, “We’re pleased to welcome Spangler SeedTech to our growing nationwide network of independently owned and operated regional seed companies across the country. He continued, “Changes in the seed industry mean that seed companies who want to remain independent need to seek alliances that strengthen, not hinder their competitive advantage. AgVenture allows them to run their own, independent businesses, but provides access to the latest and best seed genetics and technologies on the market.” He added, “Customized by local knowledge and professional service, the AgVenture network of independent seed companies has gained exceptional momentum in the marketplace. Now with Spangler SeedTech’s outstanding reputation and understanding of the Wisconsin seed business, they can continue serving customers with a broader product portfolio.”
