The University of Western Australia’s Institute of Agriculture will be officially launched tomorrow, Friday, March 30, 2007 at the University Club of Western Australia.

UWA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alan Robson said the Institute of Agriculture had been reinvigorated to highlight the importance of teaching and research in agricultural sciences and resource management.

“We are bringing together many of our research strengths into one centre and providing a better vehicle for the coordination of University and industry collaborations,” Professor Robson said.

The Institute of Agriculture had been established in partnership with the UWA Schools of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Animal Biology, Earth and Geographical Sciences and Plant Biology, as well as relevant Centres within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.

The Institute will increase competitiveness for national, international and industry funding in agriculture and resource management and enhance national and international profiles in agricultural and resource management research and training.
