The
University of Western Australia’s
Institute of Agriculture will be officially launched tomorrow,
Friday, March 30, 2007 at the University Club of Western
Australia.
UWA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alan Robson said the Institute of
Agriculture had been reinvigorated to highlight the importance
of teaching and research in agricultural sciences and resource
management.
“We are bringing together many of our research strengths into
one centre and providing a better vehicle for the coordination
of University and industry collaborations,” Professor Robson
said.
The Institute of Agriculture had been established in partnership
with the UWA Schools of Agricultural and Resource Economics,
Animal Biology, Earth and Geographical Sciences and Plant
Biology, as well as relevant Centres within the Faculty of
Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
The Institute will increase competitiveness for national,
international and industry funding in agriculture and resource
management and enhance national and international profiles in
agricultural and resource management research and training. |
