Fourth generation Barenbrug appointed President/CEO

Mr. Bastiaan J. Barenbrug has been appointed as President/CEO of Barenbrug Holding BV. Mr. Barenbrug is a member of the fourth generation of this family concern with a leading position in the international grass seed industry.

Bastiaan Barenbrug (35) has worked 12 years with the Royal Barenbrug Group. During this period he has fulfilled a number of management positions in various countries. Bastiaan Barenbrug started his career in the USA in marketing & sales and later as general manager of Barenbrug Northeast. After five years, he crossed the ocean to continue his career in the European Division of Barenbrug, as general manager of Barenbrug Belgium during four years. After the successful merger between the Belgian and Dutch activities of the Group, he was appointed general manager of Barenbrug Holland BV.

Mr. Barenbrug, who has been a member of the Board of the Royal Barenbrug Group since 2006, today assumes the position of President/CEO. He will succeed Mr. K.A. Bleeker who left the company at 1 March 2007.

The Barenbrug Group is an international company, whose major activities are plant breeding, seed production and worldwide marketing of grass seed. With 20 subsidiaries in 12 countries on five continents and almost 500 employees, Barenbrug realises a turnover of about 150 million euro and is one of the largest grass seed companies in the world. The company received the title 'Royal' on occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2004.
