Agronomix Software, Inc.
of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and
VSN International of Hemel
Hempstead, UK, have formed a strategic alliance for their
respective software businesses.
Most importantly, they have
developed a direct and dynamic software link between their two
software packages. This link opens many new possibilities for
the management and analysis of research data for agronomists and
plant breeders.
AGROBASE Generation II™ from
Agronomix Software is a comprehensive database management and
analysis system used worldwide by agronomists and plant
breeders.
GenStat® is a statistical software
package used worldwide, with many advanced statistical
procedures and other capabilities relevant to the agricultural
and biological sciences. Indeed, GenStat® originates from the
Rothamstead Experiment Station in the UK where modern statistics
began with Sir Ronald Fisher.
This strategic alliance between
Agronomix Software and VSN International will strengthen
agricultural research by providing “the best of both worlds” –
comprehensive, relational data management via Generation II and
advanced statistical analyses via GenStat.
“GenStat is a renowned statistical
package used worldwide with a strong history of developing
statistical analyses relevant to agricultural field trials,”
says Agronomix President Dieter K. Mulitze, Ph.D. “Since the
focus of AGROBASE Generation II is field research data, this
collaboration offers some exciting possibilities for
agronomists, plant breeders, and plant scientists.”
Specifically, users of Generation
II who also license GenStat may easily access the advanced
statistical capabilities of GenStat -- such as REML, mixed
model, spatial, multivariate analyses, nonparametric analyses,
and much more – from within Generation II. Generation II users
can view their experiments or entire trials with data and with a
GenStat stored in Generation II, perform a GenStat analysis
directly from within Generation II.
VSN International has released a
new GenStat procedure library so that its registered users can
store means and related statistics from ANOVA and REML or
mixed-model analyses directly in Generation II via a new
interface developed in Generation II by Agronomix Software. The
new procedure library with documentation are available directly
from VSN International.
