Today Bayer CropScience has completed the acquisition of Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company from Monsanto Company after US authorities approved the transaction. On May 31, 2007 the two companies announced they had reached an agreement regarding the intended purchase by Bayer CropScience of Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company, a leading US provider of cotton seeds, for a total purchase price of US-$ 310 million (approximately EUR 230 million). The acquisition is expected to enhance the fast-growing US cotton seed business of Bayer CropScience, currently the second largest cotton seed supplier in North America.

Leverkusen - Bayer CropScience hat heute die Akquisition des US-Baumwollsaat-Herstellers Stoneville von Monsanto abgeschlossen, nachdem die US-Wettbewerbsbehörden der Transaktion zugestimmt haben. Am 31. Mai
2007 hatten die beiden Unternehmen eine Vereinbarung über den beabsichtigten Erwerb des Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company, einen führenden Anbieter von Baumwollsaatgut in den USA, durch Bayer CropScience bekannt gegeben. Der Kaufpreis beläuft sich auf 310 Millionen US-Dollar (ca. 230 Millionen Euro). Durch die Akquisition soll das schnell wachsende US-Geschäft mit Baumwollsaatgut von Bayer CropScience ausgebaut werden. Das Unternehmen ist derzeit der zweitgrößte Anbieter von Baumwollsaatgut in Nordamerika.
