Seed World is proud
to announce the recipient of the first Future Giants of the
Seed Industry Award, Dr. Clinton Pilcher, Corn Insect
Traits Technology Development Manager with Monsanto in Missouri.
The Future
Giants of the Industry award is co-presented by
FuSE (Future Seed Executives), an
initiative of the American Seed Trade
Association, and Seed World magazine. The award
recognizes a young individual who shows the potential to make a
significant contribution to the industry. Nominations were
judged by the Seed World Advisory Board.
Pilcher has
dedicated himself to the development of corn biotechnology,
working closely with regional and national seed companies to
foster innovative research and demonstrate the value of corn
traits and systems to seed companies and ultimately growers. His
outreach to the agriculture and seed industry is through the
delivery of hundreds of crop clinics, field days, and grower
presentations throughout the Corn Belt. Pilcher leads by
example, mentoring various youth organizations such as the FFA
and university undergraduates.
The award
will be presented at the 2007 ASTA annual meeting in Denver,
Colorado, at the ASRF/FuSE
reception. Future
Giants of the Industry will annually recognize a rising leader
who is in the graduation year of his/her
post-secondary program and plans to enter the seed
industry, or is currently employed in the seed
industry.
