Bayer CropScience launches new InVigor® Health hybrid canola in
alliance with Cargill New canola line will be processed into
specialty oil for Cargill’s food customers

CropScience announced the launch in Canada of a new hybrid
canola line, InVigor® Health, which has been developed
specifically for the North American specialty canola oil market.
Cargill, a global
agri-foods company, will produce canola oil from InVigor® Health
hybrids. The oil has a high-oleic content designed to maintain
stability in high-heat food processing applications. This
characteristic eliminates the need for hydrogenation and the
creation of trans fatty acids, which are linked to
cardiovascular diseases. From the 2008 season onwards, canola
growers in western Canada will have the opportunity for the
first time to grow a specialty oil canola from the
high-performing, market-leading InVigor® hybrids.
InVigor® Health is the first product to be unveiled under an
alliance between Bayer CropScience and Cargill which was formed
only two years ago. In January 2005, the companies had announced
that they were working together to produce and deliver specialty
canola hybrids that would provide high-stability oil for
Cargill’s food industry customers.

program has for the first time generated a commercial product
for downstream customers. Through the alliance with Cargill we
are creating solutions for food companies to meet the growing
consumer demand for oils low in saturated and trans fats," said
Dr. Joachim Schneider, Head of the BioScience unit at Bayer
CropScience.
And Garth Hodges, Global Business Manager for Canola at Bayer
CropScience, added: "The development of these InVigor® Health
hybrids is based on our InVigor system, which constantly
delivers the highest yielding canola hybrids on the Canadian
market. We will continue in our research and breeding activities
to offer innovative products and tailor-made solutions for the
end-use markets".

Lebensmittelindustrie verarbeitet
Bayer CropScience führt in Kanada die neue Hybridraps-Linie
InVigor® Health ein, die gezielt für den Spezialrapsölmarkt in
Nordamerika entwickelt wurde. Cargill, ein internationales
Unternehmen der Agrar- und Lebensmittelindustrie, wird Rapsöl
aus InVigor® Health-Hybriden herstellen. Dieses Öl besitzt einen
hohen Ölsäuregehalt und bleibt auch bei Erhitzung während der
Verarbeitung durch die Lebensmittelindustrie stabil. Das macht
eine Härtung überflüssig, und die Entstehung von
Trans-Fettsäuren, die mit Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen in
Verbindung gebracht werden, wird vermieden. Ab der Saison 2008
werden Rapsproduzenten in Westkanada erstmals den Spezialölraps
anbauen können. InVigor®-Hybride zeichnen sich durch eine hohe
Performance aus und sind Marktführer in Nordamerika.
InVigor® Health ist das erste Produkt, das aus der erst
zweijährigen Allianz zwischen Bayer CropScience und Cargill
hervorgeht. Im Januar 2005 hatten die beiden Unternehmen ihre
Zusammenarbeit zur Erzeugung und Lieferung von Rapssorten
bekannt gegeben, aus denen sich Öl hoher Stabilität für Cargills
Kunden aus der Lebensmittelbranche herstellen lässt.
