AgVenture launches corn-on-corn information website
Kentland, Indiana
January 31, 2007

AgVenture, Inc., based in Kentland, Indiana has launched a new website providing information that answers producers’ questions and addresses best practices in raising corn following corn effectively and productively. The new site, found at www.cornoncorn.com offers growers specific tips on hybrid selection, questions and answers and best practice considerations in growing corn on corn.

Fueled by recent interest and demand for corn for ethanol production, U.S. farmers are finalizing corn planting plans for the 2007 crop. Growth in corn acreage projections has many growers increasing corn on corn acres by switching out of traditional crop rotations. AVI Vice President Marketing and Sales, Jim Groepper said, “The shift to corn following corn poses some unique challenges to growers. AgVenture’s corn-on-corn dot com website focuses on providing growers with the latest information on what practices are being deployed by industry leading experts. It offers a collection of concepts, practical applications and ideas to help producers optimize their ability to grow corn profitably.”

Jason Dodd, General Manager Sales and Marketing for AgVenture ProfiSeed, Hampton, Iowa said, “We’ve made a targeted effort for growers to have the right information and support available to help them make the right decisions on corn on corn acres.” He added, “The information in the website provides major points, major resources for making the best corn on corn decisions. Growers can access the website on their time and when they need a question answered. Our sales staff is always there to back them up in the planning process, but this is additional information at a time it’s needed.”

Both Groepper and Dodd agreed that careful hybrid selection will be of additional importance this year. Dodd added, “As important as information is, choosing the right hybrid for the right field remains crucial.” He pointed out that due to the steep increase in corn acreage, some companies are short on some hybrids or traits. “I urge producers to stick with their decision on traits or genetics they need for each field. Don’t settle for substitutes. AgVenture planned ahead and has a strong supply and solid line up of the traits and genetics producers need. Make sure your decisions are based on profitability, not on another seed company’s convenience.”

AgVenture, Inc. is the nation’s largest network of independently owned regional seed companies. Based in Kentland, Indiana, AgVenture provides this growing network of independently owned and managed regional seed companies with seed products meeting exacting standards for quality, together with leading-edge genetics and technology. Since 1983, this unique marketing approach has allowed each individual company to match the hybrids it sells to the specific needs of the geographical area it serves. Combined with professional seed representation at a local level, AgVenture strives to help every grower realize more profit from every field.
